So, no posts for 2 months – awkward. It really has been a while, hasn’t it?
When titling this post, I was literally about to write October 2017. How did we get to December already?! It’s officially Christmas song season (or so I’m told by every department store I visit). I definitely haven’t started my Christmas shopping yet, or even thought about what I’m going to get everyone – but then again, that’s nothing new!
So, where have I been?
Well, everything kind of overtook me. After sharing the importance of taking time out to properly relax while on holiday, I landed back in London and got caught up in a whirlwind of things – from updating and creating a portfolio, applying & interviewing for jobs and a million other things. As a result, Carry on Caroline got a little left behind. I had loads of ideas for content, but sitting down to start writing became a bigger and harder task each time I tried – and I never wanted Carry on Caroline to be a chore. So with this in mind, I took the weekend to sit and think about what I want to do next, and well, I’m still working it out. But I was inspired by Hannah Gale – I love her Instagram stories – to just write and put something out there – whatever it is. So well, here it is.
What’s new?
Well, the biggest piece of news is – I’ve got a new job! I’ll be starting in the new year, so January sales will be spent desperately looking for a new working wardrobe.
I’ve also had a little haircut – it doesn’t seem like 2 minutes since I was telling you about my last chop here, but it’s been over 6 months and I’ve gone a little shorter this time! I’ve never had my hair short enough to swing over my shoulders before – so a scarf is now 100% necessary!
I spent the first weekend of December in Copenhagen getting completely into the Christmas spirit with friends (and some wine, of course). I decided not to blog my trip as I’ve done a little round up of Copenhagen before, and it was lovely to be able to just wander around. I love Copenhagen, so will definitely going back – but perhaps when it’s a little warmer.
Phew, now that’s out of the way – let’s talk about those check trousers
I saw these trousers as part of the Monki suit on Instagram and fell in love instantly. Luckily, they were still in stock for me! If you follow me on Instagram, you might’ve seen me in them a while ago. But since then I’ve been pairing them up with this cropped jumper or a tucked in polo neck at least once a week.
They’re proper trouser material, but high waisted and skinny with a side zip so you can tuck in or layer over with no ugly lumps or bumps. According to the fountain of all knowledge (my Mum), I have a disproportionate waist (aka a big bum), so finding things that go over my bum and fit neatly around my waist is pretty difficult. But these fit so perfectly, if they came in other patterns I’d be very tempted! In fact – I’ve just checked and they do have them in another pattern! Hellooo Christmas wishlist.
So that’s my story…
And I’m sticking to it! Hopefully I’ll be adding a little festive content over the coming weeks with my favourite reviews, but leaving vlogmas and gift guides to the experts. Any ideas for Dad’s? I always find him the hardest to buy for!
I’m working on a plan for the kind of content I want to create in 2018, and what better way to start than with a new notepad? Watch this space!
