Something a little different on here today. I was recently invited to enter a competition by the lovely people at farfetch.com. The brief asked me to create a look “worthy of an iconic fashion movie moment” – well they got me – two of my favourite things, fashion and film. Out of the 7 films we were given to choose from, I shortlisted SJP from Sex and the City (because, obviously!), Cher Horowitz from Clueless and Miranda from The Devil Wears Prada.
I’ve recently been on a bit of a buying binge for work clothes, trying to smarten up my jeans/shirt/trainers uniform which I seem to have slipped into (it’s just so easy…), so I chose to channel my inner Miranda and power dress! So say hello to my Miranda recreation using farfetch…
I wanted to catch Miranda’s sharp, well tailored look and use the playful elements of her dress sense too. She is top dog after all! I started with this jacket – my favourite dream piece for Miranda. I think it blends the tailored look with an elegant twist using the gold floral pattern and plays with the sequinned jacket she wore in the film too. With such a bold jacket I wanted to keep the rest of the outfit fairly simple and sharp, so chose a loose plain blouse to tuck into these Christopher Kane tailored trousers. I let myself dream a little and wish I was the kind of girl who could rock a pair of heels in the office all day, so I chose these beautiful shoes with the delicate butterflies on the heel coordinating with the jacket.
I’m a minimal accessories kind of gal myself, so kept in line with true Miranda styling and just added these lovely gold hoops – I hear she’s a fan!
