Getting back to blogging

Hey! Look at this – I'm back (hi Mum!).

So after originally only planning to take a mini-break from blogging, it’s ended up being more like 6 months – whoops! When I pressed pause on Carry on Caroline in November, I was keen to work hard on curating quality content and having more of a direction. I started writing posts and looking for new layouts, but then – as it often does – life got in the way. I’m still working full time in London, but we had to leave our old flat on Bermondsey Street. We had the usual house hunt meltdown earlier this year – I forgot how much time house hunting takes up! But luckily, we found ourselves a cute little (and I mean little – thanks London) flat near Tower Bridge, so not too far from my beloved Bermondsey Street. It’s just Simon & I now, so we’re busy decorating and doing several IKEA trips to make it our own.

GETTING BACK TO BLOGGING

While I stepped away from my keyboard, I didn’t step away from the blogging world entirely. I’ve still been Instagramming (not enjoying the constant algorithm changes), following my favourite bloggers and working on content behind the scenes. I’ve also been through a little name change on social media. ICYMI – you can now find me as @carolineinnes_ on Instagram & Twitter.

It’s taken a long time to get myself sorted. The more time I spent away, the more I wanted to start again, but felt it becoming a bigger and bigger hurdle as time went on. Then I questioned whether I really did want to start again. What makes my blog different to the millions of others out there?

After attending a Betty Magazine Girl’s Club event in March, I was inspired by the panel of speakers: Liv Purvis of What Olivia Did, Rose Wolfenden, Co-Founder of Tatty Devine, and Stephen Lawton from HPR, as well as the lovely Charlottes’, the brains behind Betty Magazine. They all talked about their individual experiences of the fashion industry and passed on their top tips, but there was one that’s really stuck with me from Liv Purvis: “Just start – you can’t improve if you’ve got nothing to improve on.”

So – here I am, diving back in (after a few months or so battling with WordPress)! Welcome to the new Carry on Caroline – a whole new look, and new content coming your way. I hope you like it. You can expect more style, beauty and food posts, with recommendations for things to do and places to go in and around London. I’m currently in the middle of trying to book up my Summer to bring you some travel content too!

So if you’ve got this far, thank you for coming back six months on – I can’t wait to share everything with you!

  1. So glad to have you back Caroline! Looking forward to hearing about your latest exploits!

  2. Ah I loved reading your post Caroline. I like looking at all the photos, which is what you can do on Instagram too, but my favourite thing about looking ta your blog is reading your thoughts on the industry and more so about what you’re up to. Love your voice. I think there are no trier words than ‘just start’ it doesn’t have to be perfect right now, I know you can get daunted by everything else and then never start. I personally want to hear stuff about what you do as well xxx
